Historical and Projected Septemeber Arctic Sea Ice area under different SSP scenarios

Description:


September Arctic sea ice area in 10^6 km^2 based on CMIP6 model simulations along with satellite observations by NSIDC. Very likely ranges are shown for SSP1-2.6 and SSP3-7.0. The Arctic is projected to be practically ice-free near mid-century under mid- and high GHG emissions scenarios.This data is basedon IPCC AR6 WG1 Summary for policy makers figure 8 as provided by IPCC.
